Had It Not Been (Version Two)

Time goes by, and those who sing the song may change, but this fact still holds true: had it not been for our precious Lord’s sacrifice for us, our souls would be lost, forever.

Since its first release by The Searchers Quartet in the late 1960s, “Had It Not Been”, written by Rusty Goodman, has become a southern gospel standard. Many artists have performed this song, including The Cathedral Quartet, The Rambos, The Oak Ridge Boys, and The Happy Goodmans — the family singing group in which Rusty Goodman sang.

This wonderful song takes us on a journey back in time to look at Jesus’ death on the old rugged cross. Even though the song stops there, we thrill in the life that was miraculously restored to Him! Through God restoring their relationship, and giving Jesus life again, the ultimate sacrifice was completed, and the redemption price was paid in full!

Though no amount of words can fully express our thankfulness for our Lord’s incredible gift, we find this song to be inspiring and encouraging. Thank you for checking out our second version of this precious hymn!
