Search Me Oh God (Cleanse Me) – Inspirational Singers

Our inspirational singers present the beautiful hymn, “Search Me Oh God”. Also known as “Cleanse Me”, this song was written in 1936, by J. Edwin Orr. He wrote the words to a Polynesian tune he heard while visiting New Zealand that same year.

The lyrics are inspired by scripture – two passages in the book of Psalms.

Psalms 139:23-24 (KJV) – “139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts: 139:24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Psalms 51:2 (KJV) – “Wash me thoroughly for mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.”

The Inspirational Singers work diligently to bring the best of the best with their vocal renditions of these favorite old hymns. With this and all of our songs, we hope that it brings encouragement and uplifts your heart in the troubled world we live in.
