He Keeps Me Singing – Inspirational Singers

The ladies of our inspirational singers present an old time hymn, “He Keeps Me Singing”.

This up-tempo, joyful song was written by Luther Bridges in 1910. Tragedy struck Bridges’ life the following year when a house fire took the lives of his wife and three sons. In the midst of such tremendous heartbreak and loss, the lyrics in “He Keeps Me Singing” became even more precious to lean on. Such lines as, “Fear not, I am with thee, peace be still, in all of life’s ebb and flow”, offer hope when faced with despair. The tune of “He Keeps Me Singing” was derived from the 1903 instrumental, “Melody of Love” by Hans Engelmann. Since the time that Bridges wrote the lyrics, it has become a beloved hymn for over 100 years, being covered by such artists as the Gaither Vocal Band.

We hope you’ve enjoyed listening to the ladies sing, and find encouragement in the uplifting words of this melody.
