“Hear the cries of the shackled from the onset of time…”
The chains of sin and defeat hold fast, their captives desperate for release. Only a worthy sacrifice can set them free. Thankfully, Jesus, the one and only Worthy Lamb, was found spotless before God and willing to sacrifice everything to become the Savior of His people.
Bill Gaither and his wife Gloria wrote the popular gospel song “Worthy the Lamb (That Was Slain)” in 1974. Its lyrics echo the words of praise and rejoicing sung by the redeemed in the prophetic vision John recorded in the book of Revelation:
Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. (Revelation 5:12 KJV)
