Ring of Fire – Cathy’s Clown – Only Make Believe – 24K Gold Music Shows
From the very first notes of the trumpets most people recognize Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”. “Ring of Fire” was released in the spring of 1963. It reached number one on the charts and remained there for seven consecutive weeks. It became an all time classic favorite and has been listed as number four on CMT’s 100 Greatest Songs of Country Music list.
“Cathy’s Clown” is about a love that sadly goes all wrong. Cathy does not want his love anymore and she is treating him really bad. This hit song was recorded and released by the Everly Brothers in 1960. Written by Don Everly, the song held Billboard’s Hot 100 number one spot for five weeks.
“Only Make Believe” was Conway Twitty’s first number one hit song. It reached the top of the charts in 1958. Conway co-wrote the song along with his drummer, Jack Nance. When Conway initially started out it was widely believed that Elvis was releasing songs under the name Conway Twitty and that the title “Only Make Believe” was a clue that it was Elvis. When this theory was dismissed, Conway went on to enjoy one of the most successful careers of all time in the field of country music, having 55 number one hit songs.
