Dancing Queen – 24K Gold Music Shows
In the late 1970’s while disco was topping the American charts, the Swedish group ABBA decided to join in with the contribution of, “Dancing Queen”. Written by ABBA’s own Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus along with their manager Stig Anderson it became a worldwide hit. “Dancing Queen” took the number one spot on the charts in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany and Zimbabwe and the US. Billboard’s Hot 100 Hits list included many of ABBA’s songs but “Dancing Queen” was the only one to be listed at number one in the US. ABBA’s female vocalists, Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad were sure “Dancing Queen” was bound for success the minute they heard it and the song did become the group’s signature song. It has been estimated that ABBA has sold over 350 million records making them one of the best-selling music groups of all time.
24K Gold Music Show’s fans, being young at heart, always favored songs from the 1950’s and 1960’s era. The fans did have a couple of stand-out favorites that were a bit newer and “Dancing Queen” was surely one of those! Our team was always happy to include “Dancing Queen” in the show line-up for our fans. This video is from a later performance when the girls added the gold cape, “wings” to even further enhance the number.
