24K Gold Music Shows six singer-dancer girls are taking to the “streets” or aisles while singing and dancing through the fans and greeting them! Thanks to the technology of video we can still watch the lively performance as it features the 24K Gold Music Show junior dancers performing onstage while the band plays Martha and the Vandellas rendition of “Dancing in the Streets”.
The song, “Dancing in the Street” was cowritten by Marvin Gaye, and became popular in 1964 when Martha and the Vandellas recorded it. It is one of the group’s signature songs as well as one of Motown’s signature songs. It rose to number two on the charts and has remained an all-time favorite. It was included on the list of 500 songs that shaped rock and roll history. Martha and the Vandellas had 26 songs to reach the charts. Martha Reeves is still touring and performing her songs today.
Due to its longtime success, many famous artists have recorded and released cover versions of “Dancing in the Street”.
