Take Good Care of My Baby – 24K Gold Music Shows
Behind every great song is a great songwriter. “Take Good Care Of My Baby” is a truly great song of the past. It was written by the famous, then husband and wife, songwriting team of Gerry Goffin and Carole King. Together they would write hundreds of songs with 118 of them taking a spot on Billboard’s Hot 100. Many of them were number one hits and have become the classic oldies still loved today. Carole, a pianist, would write the music, and Gerry the words.
It was Bobby Vee, that at age 15, showed up to fill in for Buddy Holly when Buddy died in a tragic plane crash. The show was a success and the eventual teen idol’s career began. Bobby had had 38 songs to chart on Billboard’s Hot 100 and six gold records. With his boy next door looks, Bobby was able to get acting roles and was featured in motion pictures. “Take Good Care Of My Baby” was Bobby Vee’s number one hit song in 1961 that held the spot for three weeks. In 1963 he was the headline act of Dick Clark’s famous Caravan of Stars, a road show of famous musical acts. Bobby married his wife, Karen, in 1963 and the couple remained married until Bobby’s death from complications of Alzheimer’s disease in 2016.
