Proud Mary – Danny Boy (Elvis Tribute) – 24K Gold Music Shows
This video is taken from the Elvis portion of our show and begins with “Proud Mary”. Proud Mary is classic oldies that is listed on Rolling Stones’ 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list. John Fogerty wrote “Proud Mary” and it was recorded and released by his band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, in 1969. The song was covered by Tina Turner in 1971 and Elvis added it to his live shows around that same time also. Both Tina and Elvis took their versions and changed them from the original release and made the song bigger with powerful vocals and additional instrumentation. 24K Gold Music Show uses from both of these versions for our own very exciting cover version.
The second song of this video clip,”Danny Boy”, has certainly stood the test of time. The words to this popular song were written by Frederic Weatherly in 1913. He took the tune from an even older traditional Irish song. Together the words and tune of, “Danny Boy” have been recorded by a long list of famous artists. Elvis recorded “Danny Boy”, in the Jungle Room at Graceland, at the request of his father, and released it on his album “From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee” in 1976.
